La Embajada de la República Dominicana en Jamaica ha marcado un hito significativo al llevar a cabo con éxito el Primer Foro de Negocios de Tabaco y Ron, bajo el título "Cigar and Rum Business Forum República Dominicana – Jamaica". Este evento, una innovación en la diplomacia comercial, proporcionó una plataforma sin precedentes para el sector de la economía nacional, permitiendo que empresas dominicanas del rubro se conecten con influyentes importadores, distribuidores y actores clave en Jamaica.
El Foro, que tuvo lugar en el moderno Hotel AC de Kingston, congregó a más de cien participantes y sirvió de escenario para la realización de numerosas reuniones B2B entre las destacadas empresas dominicanas del sector ronero y tabacalero, y las empresas jamaicanas relacionadas con el comercio de estos productos.
Durante la ceremonia de inauguración, la Embajadora Angie Martínez resaltó la importancia del evento como testimonio del compromiso de la República Dominicana en fortalecer lazos económicos y comerciales con Jamaica. Martínez afirmó que el foro proporciona una plataforma única para fortalecer la colaboración bilateral, explorar nuevas oportunidades de negocios y fomentar el intercambio de productos icónicos en ambas economías.
El programa formal incluyó presentaciones, paneles y un conversatorio entre la Embajadora Angie Martínez y el presidente de la Asociación de Fabricantes y Exportadores de Jamaica (JMEA), Sr. Sydney Thwaites. Ambos líderes dialogaron sobre el futuro de las industrias del tabaco y del ron en ambos países, abordando perspectivas relacionadas con las exportaciones y el comercio bilateral.
El Encargado de Asuntos Económicos y Comerciales de la Embajada, Daniel Beltré Acosta, ofreció una presentación detallada sobre aspectos históricos y económicos de las industrias del tabaco y el ron de la República Dominicana. Además, representantes de destacadas empresas dominicanas del sector ronero, como Jack Astacio de J&J SPIRITS, brindaron valiosas contribuciones durante el evento.
En representación de la industria tabacalera dominicana, el Sr. Rafael Domínguez, presidente de Víctor Sinclair Tabacalera, compartió reflexiones sobre la industria del tabaco, alentando a los presentes a explorar las oportunidades de negocios en este sector. La presencia de empresas como Tabacalera Palma, ISIDRO BORDAS, BRUGAL, OLIVER & OLIVER, BARCELÓ, HF Cigars, Américo Cigars y Bohemio Cigars contribuyeron a la diversidad y riqueza del evento.

La noche culminó con la Gala "Tabaco y Ron", celebrada en la Residencia Oficial de la República Dominicana en Kingston, donde más de 400 personas se reunieron para disfrutar de la cultura, la gastronomía y las exquisiteces del ron y los tabacos dominicanos. Ambos eventos, el Foro de Negocios y la Gala, no solo destacaron las contribuciones culturales y económicas de estos productos, sino que sentaron las bases para futuras asociaciones y alianzas estratégicas entre la República Dominicana y Jamaica.
Estas actividades conmemorativas formaron parte de la serie organizada por la Embajada en la celebración del 59 aniversario del establecimiento de relaciones diplomáticas entre la República Dominicana y Jamaica.
Cigar and Rum Business Forum

During the opening ceremony, Ambassador Angie Martinez highlighted the importance of the event as a testament to the Dominican Republic's commitment to strengthening economic and commercial ties with Jamaica. Martinez stated that the forum provides a unique platform to strengthen bilateral collaboration, explore new business opportunities and foster the exchange of iconic products in both economies.
